A gift evening in honour of Miss May Houghton was given at her residence recently by Miss Myrtle Rivers. Dancing, games and competitions were enjoyed and musical items were rendered by Messrs Norman Larson and Morris Cook. Among those present were Mesdames Pratt and O’Leary; Misses M.. Rivers, M. Houghton, M. Hocking, M. Shearman, M. Lucas, M. Fright, E. Moore, O’Shrender, J. Ramsey, E. M Taggart, E. Houghton, M. Kennedy, T LeCompte and J. Houghton; Messrs G. Gavnor, G. Stout, W. Hill, T. Rivers, W. Bloomfield. M. Cook, K. Hewinson, N. Carson, J. Broadhead, A. Shearman, M Laurie, F. Cribb, P. Anderson, R. Gracie, L. Cockroft, P. Page and B. Turner.

A meeting of the C-ust-W est Eyreton Women’s Division of the F armers Union was held at the residence of Mrs D. Maindonald, most of the members being present. It was decided to assist the Farmers’ Union in the canvass of the district for assistance for the unemployed. A prize given for the best article made out of old stockings was won by Mrs Beer, with Mrs Petrie and Mrs M’lntosh equal second. The various articles are to be forwarded to Nurse Maude. It was decided to invite the Amberley and Fernside branches to be present at the next meeting.
