Wool Brings in Brighter Fashions.

It Occurs to Me.

JJEW ZEALAND WOMEN need not be afraid that the “ wear more wool ” campaign w’hich Is in full progress in Christchurch this week is simply a local effort to persuade them to wear materials that are not fashionable in other countries. It is true that last season the Queen was ordering cotton frocks to popularise the Lancashire cotton industry, but the latest notes from Home show a distinct swing over in favour of wool. Flannel suits and wood dresses are necessary articles for the summer wardrobe, we are told. But the interesting thing is that our woollen frocks are not going to be drab affairs. Dress fabrics are brightly keyed, and this is largely because' it has been found that women can wear vivid colours successfully in wools, as this fabric absorbs light and does not reflect in the face. The monotonous ensemble is a thing of the past, and suits now show skirt and coat of contrasting colours. We are to have new yellow shades, with tropic reds and blazing blues, which will allow a greater range of colour to express.our individuality through our clothes. It is a happy thought that these brighter wool fashions will also mean brighter prospects for the farmers. B.E.S.
