GRETA GARBO TRIUMPH.

Greta Garbo was never better cast in . role than she is in “Inspiration,” which began a season at the Crystal Palace on Saturday evening. No other actress could have played the part of Yvonne, the love-hungry Pansienne, in quite, the way that Miss Garbo plays it. She acts as one felt suro she lierself would act under ; the same circumstances. Yvonne was an exotic. In any company she would j have stood out as the central figure. = There was a force of character about her that made it quite natural that artists, for whom she stood as a model, should regard her as their “inspiration.” She gave all of herself, ft seemed, to the task, and all in the process fell under her spell. Yet there were in her depths which had never been plumbed until a young, fresh student in diplomacy came into her life. There was nothing about him to distinguish him from the many other handsome men 1 with whom she was surrounded, but j from regarding him merely as another conquest, she came to find in him her ideal of love. As with all of the others I he was charmed and the pair of them j lived in an Eden of happiness until the jealousy of another model flung in his face the truth about Yvonne from j which he had always hidden himself. He goes away, but as was to be expected he came back, and again the model to 1 whom he had now begun to mean everything found a little happiness. It was not to last, however. To Paris came the boyhood sweetheart of Andre, the student, and though he was willing to carry on, Yvonne made the big sacrifice. Robert Montgomery as Andre also has a role well suited to his type. He makes a very effective contrast to Greta Garbo and adds to his already good reputation as an actor. Other splendid characterisations are given by Lewis Stone, John Miljan, Marjorie Rambeau and Judith Vosselli. Chief, amongst the supports is a comedy by Laurel and Hardy, “Laughing Gravy.” The news reels are well selected.
