BRADFORD MARKET HAS FAIR SALES.
TOPMAKERS’ PRICES ARE FIRM AND UNCHANGED. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received August 10, 8.35 a.m.) LONDON, August 9. Mr Devereux, the Australian Wool Council’s representative, reports that the Bradford market is featureless. Topmakers’ prices are firm and unchanged. The result of a ballot amongst the workers indicates that a stoppage is unlikely. Sales of tops to Germany are less than half the normal quantity, he adds. The prices of Merino tops are unchanged. With the resumption of work at mills and factories in Northern France, a more active market prevails. There have been fair sales of tops for local spinners’ requirements. Prices are unchanged. The export of tops to other Continental countries is practically at a standstill owing to the financial situation. Reports from Belgium indicate that wool values remain steady, despite existing difficulties.
