AMATEUR BOXERS HURT IN MOTOR ACCIDENT.

Per Press Association. PAHIATUA, August 10. A car overturned at Hamua yesterday afternoon and amateur boxers, returning from Wellington, were injured. Joe Franklin, the feather-weight champion of Poverty Bay, had his left leg broken. Fred Bennie, light-weight champion of Hawke’s Bay’, received a severe cut on the knee. Both are in hospital. The other occupants escaped injury’. They’ were Mrs J. R. Gregory’, Whatatutu, Gisborne (the owner of the car), Mrs J. Heeney, Gisborne, Messrs J. Heeney and Reg Gregory. The driver was forced on to shingle iq an endeavour to avoid a collision with another car.
