HOCKEY.
SENIOR MATCHES. The thirteenth round of the Canterbury Hockey Association competitions was played this afternoon. The weather was fine, but cold, and the grounds in good order. TRINITY V. SYDENHAM. Sydenham attacked early in the spell giving Burrows an opportunity, which went outside. B. Rogers sent ms forwards away, Forman centred and Burbui’v cut through and scored. Trinity 1, Sydenham 0. Sydenham came away and Trinity conceded two corners in succession, of which no use was made. Trinity returned to the attack and gained a corner which Sydenham survived. Dash sent Sherriffs away from a fi*e© hit, but Patterson saved brilliantly. Trinity came tlii’ough and Davis finis-bed off a scramble in the circle by netting. Trinity 2, Sydenham 0. Half-time came with Trinity on the attack and the score: Trinity 2, Sydenham 0. The second spell opened with a spell of even play. Trinity went through the centi'e and Al’Donald registered a goal. Trinity 3, Sydenham 0. Langi*idge made a solo run which was cleared nicely by Patterson. Trinity were having much the better of the game, Snooks and Dash saving theii* side respectively. After several attempts by the Trinity vanguard Radcliff Caught Snooks out of position and netted. Trinity 4. Sydenham 0. Trinity came again and M’Cormick found the net. The final score was—* TRINITY 5 SYDENHAM 0 Referees: Alessrs L. L. Smith and W. H. Down. SELWYN v. CHRISTCHURCH. Christchurch fielded three men short. Repeated efforts by Selwyn to get going were nullified by off-side. Fullwood missed an easy shot for Selwyn. Fullwood opened Selwyn’s account. Selwyn I, Christchurch 0. A moment later J. Andrews netted for Selwyn. S. Bell, the Selwyn captain, received an injury to his back and retired. J. Andrews and R. Lane scored in quick succession. The half-time score was, Selwyn 4 Christchurch 0. Alounsey put in a splendid solo run for Christchurch from half-way to score a good goal. Selwyn 4, Christchurch 1. Selwyn made a sustained i*aid in the Christchurch circle, but the defence held for a time until Gay notched Selwyn’s fifth goal. There was no further score, the game ending:— SELWYN 5 CHRISTCHURCH 1 Referees: 4 Alessrs R. Grade and T. Hartigan. TECHNICAL v. REDCLIPPS. Even play marked the opening stages of the game at Ensors Road. Technical had a couple of shots which were sent behind by Dale. A. Cole (Technical) received a cut on the head and had to i*etire. Harper, of Redcliffs., also received a slight injury and retired temporarily. A free hit to RedeljfL’s outside their opponents’ territory put them in a scoring position, but Pickup kicked over. lledcliffs kept up the pressure and a shot by Howard hit the post and was cleared by Pickup. E. C.ooper replaced Cole in the Technical team. Combined play by Hill and Lohrey put Technical in a good position .but Sandford cleared. Half-time came with no score. The second spell Opened wth Redcliffs attacking strongly and a penalty bully against Pickup was cleared through an obstruction by Aingei*. T. Prebble sent ' the Redcliffs forwards away and Thompson centred well, but Ballinger hit clear. Howard put in a good run for Redcliffs. Pickup missed badly, allowing Howard to seox*e. Redcliffs 1. Technical 0. Technical retaliated and forced play into the Redcliffs circle, where Duffield equalised with a good shot. Technical .1, Redcliffs 1. Clever play by Lohrey put Technical in a good position and centring to Grafton enabled tlx© latter to #?core easily. Technical 2, Redcliffs 1. The closing stages were even, but there was no further score. The final score was:TECHNICAL . 2 REDCLIFFS 1 Referee: Air C. C. Holland.
