MOTOR-CYCLIST MEETS WITH BAD ACCIDENT.

♦ Per Press Association. CARTERTON, August 8. A young man, W. R. Nankerville, aged twenty-eight, whose home is in Petone, and who is employed at Mr D. Riddiford’s station at Lagoon Hills. Martinborough, met with a motor-cycle accident on Thursday afternoon. He received a message from his wife in Petone that their small daughter was very ill. and he mounted his motorcycle to proceed home. On reaching Kaiawaiwai the back tyre burst, and the motor-cycle left the road and dashed into a fence. Nankerville was struck on the head, a deep gash resulting, and he also received a broken arm. A passing motorlorry picked him up and conveyed him to the Kelvin Hospital at Featherston. The patient regained consciousness late yesterday afternoon, and is making satisfactory progress.
