The women’s invitation lawn tennis tourney at Maidstone, East Hampton, New York, was concluded to-day. Results: Doubles. Semi-finals. Miss Betty Nuthall and Miss Phyllis Mudford (Britain) beat Miss Marjorie Morrill-and Mrs Marion Jessup (U.S.A.), 6- 6-1. Miss Dorothy Round and Mrs Fearnley Whittingstall (Britain) heat Miss Mary Greef and Miss Penelope Anderson (U.S.A.), 6-3, 6-4. Final. Miss Nuthall and Miss Mudford beat Miss Round and Mrs Whittingstall, 5-7, 7- 6-2. Singles. Final. Mrs J. van Ryn (U.S.A.) beat Mrs Dorothy Shepherd Barron (Britain), 6-2, 6-4. VARSITY TOURNAMENT. RUGBY, August 4. In the international university tennis match at Eastbourne to-day, Oxford and Cambridge beat Harvard and Yale by sixteen rubbers to five, the largest margin since the inception of the contest.
