When at the seaside with her son John and daughters, Ruth and Ursula, a widow named Mrs Yiliseed, of Haslemere, Surrey, sat on the beach at Chichester Harbour and helplessly watched all three drown. All were strong swimmers. The brother tried to save his sisters when he was swept to his death by strong currents. Deaths due to drowning during the Bank Holiday total twelve.
