MINOR CASES DEALT WITH BY MAGISTRATE.
Minor cases were dealt with by Mr 11. P. Lawry, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court this morning. For by-law offences the following were convicted:— James Corkill was fined 30s and costs for speeding, 20s and costs for not having a warning device on his motor-car, and 10s and costs for carrying a passenger on the running board. Charged with altering a building without a permit for the work, Barbara Laura Jack was fined £2 and costs. Charles de la Cour and Albert Charles Sparrow were each fined 20s for using an unregistered vehicle, and £2 and costs for having wrong number plates affixed to their vehicles. i Out of Season. Frederick Garland (Mr M’Lachlan) for taking trout out of season was fined £2 and costs. Harry Rickerby (Mr Yyons) for taking game out of season, was fined £5 and costs. Unlicensed Wireless. For being unlawfully in possession of unlicensed wireless sets, Robert CampIwrll was fined 10s and costs; Fred Risdon 20s and costs, and Louisa, Weakley '7s 6d and costs. Ernest Batchelor, who pleaded not guilty to a charge of cruelly illtreating a horse, was fined 20s and costs. On a further charge of overloading a horse he was also fined 20s and costs. Failed to Pay Levy. For failing to pay the unemployment levy Frederick Frank Aldridge was fined 20s and costs. Remanded. John Strangeway, who was charged with being an idle and disorderly person, was remanded to appear on Monday. John Skene Jenkins, a labourer, twenty-six years of age, who was charged with breaking and entering the store of Philip Boylen, at K.elso, on April 25 and stealing goods to the value of £9 0s lOd, was remanded to appear at Invercargill on August 7.
