Kir F. A. Shurrock was illustrating lecture with lantern slides at the ‘ublic Library last evening, when the ght on the screen faded out. With borrowed hand torch, Mr E. J. Bell, he librarian, investigated, while the udience waited expectantly in the arkness. “ Ver}' sorry, ladies and entlemen,” announced Mr Bell after xamining the lantern. “ The bulb has lown .and we haven’t got another.” hen somebody remembered that there r as a lantern at Christ’s College. Mr .. E. Flower and Me Bell set out to et it. But their troubles were not t an end. Mr Bell’s car refused to o. A taxi was sought, but there was j one to be found. Back the rescue | arty went to Mr Bell’s car. which, at ; second time of asking, agreed to j :art.
