Half a million loaves a week were required and the company was to re- j ceive 3s lid per dozen for small loaves : from the Government and was to pay 1 the bakers 3s Bd. a The master bakers maintain that the bread cannot be produced at that a price, and refuse to supply below 4s 3d. People to-day had to pay fivepence cash, and those without money were not supplied.
