DANCES

BACHELORS AND SPINSTERS The bachelors' and spinsters of the Greenpark district can always be relied upon to provide an enjoyable evening on the occasion of their annual ball, and this year's ball was no exception to the rule. There was a large attendance and the gathering was greatly enjoyed. The committee consisting of Messrs J. Clark, C. Bennett. G. Pannell, G. Kimber, R. Andrews, H. Southcn, with G. Schroeder as chairman and E. Stalker and L. Bennett as secretaries, worked hard to ensure the success of the evening, and they are to be congratulated on the success attained. The music was supplied by Ashby’s orchestra, extras being played by Mrs Wilson (Christchurch); Mrs Clark and Mr L. Stace. Messrs C. Bennett and R. Andrews were M.C.’s. Monte Carlo dances were won by Mr Tatam and Miss F. Franks (Christchurch), Mr Blanche and Mrs C. Carr.

On Thursday evening the Lyndhurst District Bachelors’ Club held their annual ball, when they entertained theis spinster and benedict friends. There was a large attendance of dancers. The music was supplied by Slattery’s Dance Band. The hall was tastefully decorated with streamers of blue and white. Mr L. Breach was M.C. Miss O. Donaldson and* Mr A. Cook were the winners of a lucky spot waltz while Miss Blain and Mr W. Goodwin won the Monte Carlo dance. Among those present were:—Mesdames Drummond, Cook, Aitken, M’Phail, Symes, Limbrick, H. L.
