TOFUA, from Apia, due back at Auckland on August 3. WA IP AH I is to leave Auckland for the Cook Islands to-day. MAUI POMARE is to leave Auckland on July 29 for Niue Island and Apia. SHIPPING NOTES. WINGATUI was despatched from Lyttelton yesterday for Dunedin and Timaru. The vessel is expected to return on Wednesday next to continue loading for Wellington and Auckland. TOTARA is now expected to-morrow from Wellington with a load of cattle. On discharging she loads for Wellington and New Plymouth.

KARETU, from Portland, is due on Saturday. From Lyttelton she returns to Wellington. WAIPIATA is due at Lyttelton on Saturday from Bluff, Dunedin, Oamarti and Timaru to load for Wellington and Auckland. WAIMARINO is now expected on Tuesday from Auckland, via Wellington, to discharge general Auckland cargo and transhipments. OPIHI, from the south, is expected on Tuesday to load for Wellington, Nelson and New Plymouth. JOHN arrived yesterday to load for Wellington, New Plymouth and Waikato. She left for the north last evening. KUKU, from Nelson, Motueka and Wellington, is due to-morrow to load for Nelson, Motueka and Wellington. She will also carry cargo for Mapua, Waiotapu, Takaka and Collingwood. STORM is expected on Sunday from the south to load for Wellington, Pic- ; ton and Wanganui. HOLMDALE is expected on Tuesday to load for Wellington, Pieton and i Wanganui. BREEZE, from Bluff, via Dunedin and Timaru, arrived this morning to load for Wellington and Wanganui. TASMAN AND PACIFIC. CANADIAN HIGHLANDER leaves Montreal on Saturday for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. Due at Auckland on September 4 and Wellington on September S. GABRIELLA is due at Auckland on Saturday from Melbourne, via Newcastle. WAIKOUAITI was despatched from Dunedin yesterday for Bluff and Sydney. PORT IfiJON was despatched from Auckland yesterday for London. OTAIO, due here on Tuesday, left Auckland yesterday for Wellington. The vessel is expected to continue her unloading of Liverpool cargo at Port Chalmers. MIDDLESEX is scheduled to leave Liverpool on July 25 for Auckland, Hawke s Bay, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. Due Auckland September 1. ORARI should now be loading at London for Bluff, Port Chalmers, Lyttelton and Napier. The vessel will make a call at Suva en route to New Zealand. MATAROA is at present completing her loading at Wellington and is scheduled to leave for London on Wednesday. CAPE OF GOOD HOPE. The motor-ship Capo of Good Hope, ?. n r w t ?i. frora Callao for Sydney, passed the Wellington Heads at 3.30 a.m. yesterday. NARBADA AT CALCUTTA. Narbada on Monday arrived at Calcutta. where she will load for New Zealand ports, via Penang, Singapore and Samarang. KAREPO. Karepo, loaded with timber for Melbourne and Adelaide, has been bar-bound for some time at Greymouth. It was hoped to dispatch her yesterday afternoon. She is to load In Australia for New Zealand. ‘ ALL WELL” ON RUAHINE. Ruahine, which left Wellington on Saturday morning for Southampton and London, via Panama, has reported by wireless that moderate weather has been experienced since leaving, and that all are well on board. MATSON’S NEW LINERS. Mariposa Launched. Last Saturday the Mariposa, the first of the three passenger liners that the Matson Navigation Company is constructing under Its 24,000,000 dollars building programme for its Australian service, was to have been launched. The keel of the Mariposa was laid on May 17, 1930, at the Fore River plant of the Bethlehem Shipbuilding Company. An interesting feattire of the Mariposa is that the first rivet was made from the iron token from the famous steamer Constitution, generally known as Old Ironsides. Each of the ships will be 632 ft in length, with a breadth of 79ft, a draught oj 28ft, a gross register of 18,500 tons, and a cargo carrying -capacity of 58fe0 tons.
