MECHANICS APPLY FOR REVISED AWARD.
The first application for a new award since the announcement of the general order reducing wages will probably be that of the motor mechanics, a section of the Engineering Union. The hearing of the dispute will take place in August. The union has made the application on general grounds, with requests for improved wages and conditions. One of the major points, however, is likely to be the payment of casual workers.
