WRESTLING.

WALKER MEETS BURSCH HERE NEXT MONDAY. The Canterbury Wrestling Association has secured the match George Walker versus Stanley Bursch for the Civic Theatre on Monday evening next. George Walker is probably the best known wrestler in New Zealand, and Christchurch enthusiasts have for years been keen to see him in action. Walker, who is a Canadian, holds the title of British Empire champion, which he won in London in the presence of his

Majesty the King. Wherever he goes, he draws crowded houses, and the Town Hall at Wellington was packed to its limit when he defeated Kara Pasha there in a sensational bout on Monday evening last. He is an extremely strong wrestler, and is very fond of the headlock and back slam; in fact, he has won more bouts in New Zealand than any other wrestler by dumping his opponents. Stanley Bursch is a recent arrival from America with an impressive record. In his first bout in New Zealand he defeated Demetral, the clever Greek wrestler, in Auckland on Monday. His bout with Demetral was described as a very lively match in which flying tackles were features. As Walker was the first to introduce the flying tackle to New Zealand, Monday evening’s bout between two well-match-

ed wrestlers should be full of action. The international bout of eight tenminute rounds will be preceded by four amateur matches. All tickets, Including reserves, arc now available at Lange’s, United Service Buildings, and patrons are advised to obtain their tickets without delay. PASHA AND DEMETRAL DRAW. Per Press Association. PALMERSTON NORTH. July 22. Kara Pasha and Harry Demetral drew in a wrestling match held before a crowded Opera House, each securing a fall. Demetral pinned Pasha in the fourth round with a head lock and body press, pasha equalling in the eighth with a Boston crab after a succession of forward chanceries and head locks.
