FUNERAL IS HELD OF LATE MRS R. J. SEDDON

SERVICE ATTENDED BY LARGE GATHERING.

There was a large and representative attendance of citizens at the funeral of the late Mrs R. J. Seddon, which took place at Wellington on Saturday, states the “Post.” A short service, conducted by Canon Bean (Christchurch), son-in-law, was held in the residence, “Eccleston,” Golder’s Hill. The service in the Cathedral was conducted by the Bishop of Wellington (the Right Rev Dr T. H. Sprott), assisted by Archdeacon A. M. Johnson and Canon Percival James (vicar). The principal mourners were the members of the family, namely, Mr T. E. Y. Seddon, Canon and Mrs Bean, Mr and Mrs F. Dyer, Dr and Mrs Morice, Mrs Frank Hay, Mrs Knox Gilmer, Mr N. Seddon, Mrs T. Seddon, Misses Dyer and Morice, Mrs T. W. Williams, Misses Knox, Gilmer, and Mr R. J. Bean. The pall bearers were: Messrs R. J. S. Bean, W. Hennah, W. Edwards, P. Edwards, Sir Cyril Ward, and Mr James Kerr. Amongst those present were the Right Hon G. W. Forbes (Prime Minister), the lion W. A. Veitch (Minister of Railways), the Hon S. G. Smith (Minister of Labour), the Hon 11. Atmore (Minister of Education), Sir Michael Myers (Chief Tustice), the. Right Hon J. G. Coates, Mr 11. E. Numerous messages of sympathy were received from all parts of the Dominion. The relatives of the late Charles Parata (an old friend of the family) expressed a desire to show their affection, and placed a kiwi Maori mat at the foot of the coffin. At the conclusion of the funeral service, the coffin was placed in the family vault, in the Sydney Street Cemetery, alongside that containing the remains of Mrs Seddon’s distinguished husband —the late Richard John Seddon.
