LEAGUE RIVALS MEET TO-MORROW.
ADDINGTON AND HORNBY GAME SHOULD BE KEEN
The two foremost rivals in the League code, Addington and Hornby, will meet for the fourth time this season at Monica Park to-morrow, when there is every likelihood of a keen game. Addington have had two wins in the previous meetings and Hornby one, but the result has never been a runaway. To-morrow’s games will be the first in the Vivian Cup. competition. Linwood will play Sydenham, at Linwood Park, and'the newly-promoted teams, Hornby B and Riccarton, will try conclusions at Hornby. The last two teams are credited with good form in the lower grade, and their meetings with the established senior teams in future games .will be watched with interest. Against the three leading teams they will have, hard struggles, but against Sydenham their chances should be very even. Addington v. Hornby. ZThe teams will be chosen from the following:— Addington—C> M’Garry, B. O’Connell, G. Falgar, L. Amos, J. Amos, A. Campbell, A. Peddie, F. Flanagan, R. Ward, L. Brownie, D. Crowe, J. Condon, Gahagan, Sturrock, W. Stewart, and Newsome. Hornby—M. Standeven, W. Palamountain, R. Gilbert, E. Loach, Gibson, K. Wilkie, J. Howison, W. Woodgate, S. Minards, A. Ward, W. Dunn, T. Carey, W. Vivian, N. Vivian and C.' Stuart. With a team weakened somewhat by injuries, Hornby will have a hard job to cope with the brilliant Addington rearguard. Peddie, Campbell, Jim Amos and George Falgar have brought their combination down to a fine art now, Amos being deadly if the tackling is the slightest bit weak. The Addington forwards are all toilers and show plenty of. signs of training. They are all apparently hard as nails, very seldom suffering from injuries. Flanagan, Ward, and Brownie will take any chances that are offering. The Hornby back line is rather disorganised without Colin Wilkie at centre. R. Falgar is not down to play and his absence cuts out another of the regular backs. If Howison does not let the ball out it will go hard with Hornby with Addington coming through the centre. The Hornby forwards are not what they used to be, but in T. Carey they have one man who is inferior to no forward in the code. . Linwood should be able to beat Sydenham fairly easily, and the third game, between the promoter juniors, should be an even struggle.
