BE FASHIONABLE, AND WEAR LARGE BEADS.
To be quite fashionable in the present winter season no one can afford to be bashful about their necklaces. They must be big and bold. Beads, smart beads, have grown to an enormous size, as big as walnuts—and bigger. London says that blue chenille balls are the thing for evening wear, but they must be as big as bantams eggs, for it is size that counts, materials are not so important. The chenille is stretched over wooden mounts, which alternate with metal discs.
Carved flowers in a sealing-wax composition are among the new beads in long and heavy chains, each flower being linked to the next with crystal and black onyx beads. Turquoise is to be the fashionable stone again and a necklace of graduated beads, the three end ones and the pendant being the size of walnuts, is a smart sample.
Ropes of beads must be as thick as two fingers together and an inch thick rope of small turquoise coloured beads is one of the new smart ideas. With it goCs a bracelet of alternate carved and plain turquoise plaques.
