BOWLING.
NEW BRIGHTON CLUB. The annual meeting of the New Brighton Bowling Club was held last evening in . the pavilion. The president (Mr T. Robin?) occupied the, chair.. The balance-sheet, which showed a balance of assets over liabilities of £"00 7 s 7d was. criticised by Captain A. \V. Owles, who stated that In 1926 the total assets of the.club totalled £705 7s. Today they had increased to £1026 8s 6d without any apparent Tne treasurer (Mr L. W. Hudson) stated that the value of the land and buildings was based on the Government revaluation and the plant had also been revalued. The Dominion Bowling Association, on behalf of the bowling clubs in Hawke’s Bay, wrote asking for financial assistance to reconstruct the greens affected by the earthquake. It was decided that the members willing should subscribe and the treasurer was instructed to open a subscription list. In recognition of their services to the club Messrs T. Marker and Cormaek were made free honorary members. A motion of condolence was passed to the relatives of the late Messrs T. Barry, E. H. Diehl, R. A. Stokes and A. Cooper. The Match Committee were recommended to start the revenue games early in the season. To commemorate his term of office the retiring president (Mr A. M. Chivers) presented the club with the Chi vers gold ribbon for a \yeekly drawing competition. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron, Captain A. TV. Owles; president, Mr T. Robins; vice-presidents, Messrs H. A. Bishop and C. T. Middleton; honorary secretary, Mr G. L. Laurence; honorary treasurer, Mr L. W. Hudson; committee, Messrs G. W. Bishop, W. Dean, A. WatsOn, W. Drake and T. Bisman; delegate to centre Mr F. D. Muirson; auditor, Mr C. T. Middleton; selectors, Messrs R. E. Holloway, J. A. Cooke and G. W. Bishop; umpire, Mr F. E. Barrett; house committee, Messrs J. A. Cooke, T. Robins, C. Henry, W- Hooker and W. Watts; entertainment committee, Messrs T. Bisman, W. Hooker. H. A. Bishop, A. WatsOn and L. The prizes won during the last season in the club comp6titions were presented by the patron (Captain A. W. Owles) as follows: —Singles, J. T. doubles, W. Chapman and H. A. Bishop, rinks, L. Laurence, G. Laurence, W. Whiteley and M. Pattrick; colts W. H. Summerfield; Greenslade ferns, A. \r Arson, L. Laurence W. Chapman, H. A. Bishop; Jackson buttons, L. and M. pattrick: Williams shield R. Pearson, A. M. Chivers. B. Smith and M. Pattrick; rooster, F. Barrett.
