LAMB PRICES ARE SLIGHTLY LOWER.

CATTLE MARKET DULL ! AT ADDINGTON TO-DAY. There was again a large entry of fat lambs, but values were easier when compared with Inst week. Freezing buyers again bought heavily. The cattle entry was smaller, and very mixed in quality. For all but the best beef there was an easier tendency, but there was no change in values. There was a small entry of «tore sheep of moderate quality. The sale was a dragging one. There was another heavy yarding of fat sheep. Pat Cattle. The entry of fat cattle was not as heavy as at last week’s market, totalling 339 head—a decline of 139 head. The quality was very mixed, but the North Island was again represented by two heavy consignments. There was one line of 36 head of steers and another of 20 head. They were wellfinished heavy cattle and met with a good demand. The first part of the sale was not marked by any keen competition however and values as compared with last week showed little alteration. With the exception of the very best beef, it was noticeable that the demand was not quite so keen and values showed an easier tendency without any quotable change. The line of 36 head from the North Island sold to fairly spirited bidding and secured the £l2 16* g^ vera ® e on suc h a market of Some early- sales were:—

The yarding of fat lambs was 4600 compared with 5300 last week. The quality of the offering was not as good as that of last week, but there were some fine lines included. A feature of the sale was the activity of freezing buyers, a large proportion of the offering going to one' firm. As at recent sales exporters bought freely of the heavier lambs. The sale was a free one, but values were easier all round, the fall being 9d a head. Prices, which were last week over schedule rates, were down to schedule. The top price was 28s 4d, secured for five exceptionally good lambs sold on account of A. V. Richards (Mitcham).
