"THE GREAT MEADOW.”
The Great Meadow ” heads the programme at St James’ Theatre, and there is a good supporting programme. "MIX AND BILL.” The association of two such artists as Marie Dressier and Wallace Beery in any screen production ensures good entertainment, and there is no disappointment in their appearance together Jfl “ Min and Bill,” which will open at St James’ Theatre on Saturday. A storv of the waterfront, “ Min and Bill ” places them in a setting best suited to their type—rough, yet likeable and always entertaining. They are seen as one would expect to see them, one the landlady of a waterside house and the other the master of a trawler. Their common interest is an adopted child handicapped by unfortunate parentage and beset by the undesirable attentions of her mother. In this waterfront life there is much that is laughable, plenty that is dramatic and a little that is tragic. Marie Dressier is equal to it all, and provides a study in fine character acting. Her swift-changing moods, her hidden good nature and at times indescribable fury, all are a delight. The box plans are at The Bristol Piano Company.
