NO OTHER COMPETITORS FOR SCHNEIDER TROPHY
GREAT BRITAIN WILL WIN THE CUP BY DEFAULT. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, June 16. The Paris correspondent of the ‘‘Daily Herald” declares authoritatively that neither French nor Italian aeroplanes will compete for the Schneider Trophy which will go to Britain by default. The French entry is regarded as a joke, as the only available aeroplanes were built in 1926, and are slow compared with the British machines. They are also regarded as dangerous. Italy is unable to complete her new Fiat engines in time for the race. In these circumstances Britain will win the Trophy outright by simply fl3*ing over the course. The Schneider Trophy can be won outright by the nation winning the race three times. Britain won the last two races, at Venice in 1927 and at the Solent in 1929.
