RACING MAN FINDS BOMB ON VERANDAH.

(Special to the “ Star.”) MELBOURNE, June 1. A racehorse owner, Mr P. Lock, of Werribee, Victoria, one evening recently found a bomb on the front verandah of his home. When Mr Look stepped out through the front door he saw a candle burning in a corner of the verandah. The candle was standing in a hole in a cement drain pipe, which was lying in an open suitcase. Air Lock extinguished the flame. An examination showed that the suitcase contained a roughlymade bomb. The drain pipe contained the explosive and the candle, which was acting as a fuse, had burnt down to within one inch of the powder. Air Lock reported the discovery to the police. Two men, who were seen loitering near Mr Lock’s home shortly before 9 o'clock, were later intercepted at the railway station and taken to the police station. A fortnight earlier thieves entered Air Lock’s home and stole jewellery and other articles valued at £235.
