BOXING.

SPORTS CLUB MEETS. At a meeting of the Match Committee of the Christchurch Sports Club last evening there were present Messrs C. 11. Taylor, jun. (chairman), J. D. Hutchison, R. H. Livingstone, A. E. Talbot and A. M’Donald-Smith. In deference to the wish expressed by several who wished to compete in the novice tournament, which had previously been announced for June 2, and who would not be available until a week later, it was decided that subject to the Caledonian Hall being available for the following Tuesday, June 9, the amateur novice tournament be hold on that date and that entries be extended to June 2. The secretary was directed to circularise the various schools and trainers notifying them of the alteration of the date. The question of a date for the interprovincial tourney with South Canterbury, and also the date for holding an open amateur tournament, and the Canterbury championships prior to the New Zealand championships to be held at Ashbui ton during the first week in August was discussed at length. It was decided to defer fixing the dates of these until the novice tournament had been held. Correspondence was received from several professionals asking that the club arrange matches for them. It was decided to postpone further consideration until next meeting, in the meantime the secretary to obtain further inlormalion t r«-m the npplleants.
