ANNUAL MEETING OF CERCLE FRANCAIS HELD

The annual general meeting of the Cercle Francais was held last evening at Canterbury College, Mr J. F. D. White presiding over a large attendThe main business before the meeting, the president stated, was the Question whether the club should be taken over by the students and become a purely college institution. It was thought that this year there would be some difficulty in obtaining suitable rooms. It was determined to secure the men s common room in the Students’ Union Buildings if available. Mr H. Cato asked if the students should take over the complete control of the club. It was decided that the question should be left until after the election of officers, the older members to act as an unofficial committee to advise the students. _ _ The election of officers resulted: President, Mr C. L. Low; secretary. Miss S. Swainson; assistant secretary, Mr J. Curnow; librarian. Miss B. .Waller; committee, Misses S. Swainson, S. M’Neil and B. Waller. Messrs J. Bretherton, J. W. Mitchell, E. K. Cook and L. M. Perry; _ _ _ A vote of thanks to Mr J. F. D. White, the retiring president, for his services to the club in the past year, was carried unanimously.
