GANDHI SUPPORTED BY ALL-INDIA CONGRESS.

(United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) CALCUTTA, March 31. Gandhi has had his way. The AllIndia Congress voted solidly ratifying his Pact with the Viceroy, and appoint, ed him head of the Congress delegation to the resumed Round Table Conference with a mandate instructing them to make an effort to obtain independence. A crowd of 50,000 listened to the polished oratory of Jawarharlal Nehru advocating implicit faith 'in Gandhi, and even the Bombay intractables were silenced when passionate speeches were made by Dr Alam, Dr Kitchlew and Mr J. M. Sen Gupta. Gandhi has now one more task: to bring peace between the Hindus and the Mohammedans. Congress also adopted a resolution pledging support to the movement for the use of Indian-made cloth to the. exclusion of foreign products. While recognising the right of the Burmese to claim separation from India, Congress condemned Britain’s proposal to force separation on the Burmese. The opinion was expressed that the proposal was a plot to make Burma and Singapore, by reason of their strategic position and the presence of oil. the stronghold of Imperialism in the East.
