AWARDS ARE AMENDED IN RELIABILITY TEST.

CLUB UPHOLDS VIEW TAKEN BY OWNER. At a special meeting of the motor section of the Pioneer Sports Club held last evening, Mr R. H. Parker presiding, a letter was received from Mr B. J. Tench protesting against the deduction by the judge of four marks from his car for slackness in the swivel pins and bushes, in the reliability trial recently held by the club.. Mr Tench pointed out that his car had done nearly 30,000 miles, and he considered the wear shown was reasonable for a car that had run so far. His car had been penalised for wear that definitely did not take place during the trial. Competitors only asked to supply the mechanics with a list of broken or missing parts, no mention being made as to parts already worn. The judge (Mr R. C. Symes). who was present at the meeting, stated that his awards were made in accordance with the conditions laid down, which, however, were found to be not sufficiently watertight. He thought the point raised by Mr Tench was reasonable, and he was quite prepared to consider any recommendations the committee might wish to make on the matter. After further consideration, it was resolved that it be a recommendation to the judge to delete all marks respecting the condition of the whole of the cars. Mr Symes thereupon announced the following amended and final awards:— D. C. Crozier (T>. 7 Austin. 1000; B. Tench (T), B_Singer, 1000; E. D. O’Connor (T), 9 Riley. 1000; F. St J.
