WOMAN ALLEGED SHE WAS DRUGGED.

“ more sinned against THAN SINNING,” SAYS S.M. (Special to the “Star.”) AUCKLAND, March 24. Alleging that she had been drugged by wine last night, a woman aged thirty-eight years appeared this morning on a charge of wilfully damaging the glass windshields of a motor-car to the extent of £lO. Last night, a constable was approached by a man, who asked him to go to William Street. On arriving there the constable found accused in a semidrunken and excitable condition. She had been throwing stones at the motorcar and had smashed the glass windshields. She told the constable she had met a man yesterday and he had asked her to go out with him. The man gave her some wine which, she alleges, was drugged. They both sat down on the running board of a motor-car which the man represented was his. Accused also alleged that this man made an indecent proposal and assaulted her. Thinking the motor-car belonged to him, accused tried to wreck it. Unfortunately the car was the property of another man. Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M.: If, as she states, the man attempted to assault her, I will have it inquired into. She might have been more sinned against than sinning. I will adjourn the case until April 21. She can pay something off the damage by that time. Her name is suppressed.
