CIVIL CLAIMS HEARD IN MAGISTRATE’S COURT

A. E. Nelson, a motor engineer- of Linwood (Mr Tracy), proceeded against G. Calvert, of Spreydon (Mr Johnston), in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, for the sum of £l6 3s 9d alleged to be due for work done to defendant’s motor-car. Calvert, in a counter-claim, alleged that Nelson had done the work in a negligent way. Judgment was given for Nelson for £lO 10s, including the amount of confession with costs. Judgment was given for Calvert on the counter-claim for solicitor’s costs. Claim Ffer £5 10s. B. J. Payne, engineer (Mr Burns), claimed to recover from E. R. M'Donald, grocer, of Papanui (Mr Lockwood) the sum of £5 10s, said to be due for overhauling a motor-cycle and sharpening a lawnmower. Judgment was given for plaintiff for £1 4s 6d with costs.
