INTEREST ON TRAMWAY LOAN STILL GOES ON.
Per Press Association NAPIER, March 19. Although the Napier tramways service will probably not bo restored, interoat and sinking: fund charges on eight loans totalling £158,341, which, were raised for the venture, will have to be met. “ Legislation will probably legalise deferment of payment to the depreciation reserve, but not deferment of intenest,” said the commissioner (Mr J. S. Barton, SJM.). “It is that deferment of the sinking fund will also be legalised, but interest will certainly go on. The borough will meet all its liabilities.’* A dwelling in Simla Terrace, owned and occupied by L. M. Rankm, was destroyed by fire last evening. The fire alarms are out of action, but a call was received by a motor-car, and
the brigade arrived to find the house completely lost.
