OBITUARY.

JAMES ROBERT ROW. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, March 17. rhe death occurred at Lewisham Hospital, after a serious operation, of James Robert Row, aged fiftymine, general secretary of the National Council of the Licensed Victuallers' Association. He came to New Zealand thirtyfive years ago, and was engaged in business in Auckland and Rotorua. At Rotorua, he was chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, and he was prominent in other local activities. Fourteen \*ears ago he became organiser for the licensed trade. He was interested in Freemasonry. He was a member of the Rotary Club, and was a liberal supporter philanthropic and charitable organisations. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son, who is completing his medical studies in England.
