WAIMATE RACING CLUB.

Jubilee Meeting To-morrow.

The Jubilee meeting of the Waimate Racing Club will be held to-morrow, and all the indications point to it proving very successful. There seems an assurance of good fields in most of the events, and with the competing horses j drawn from a wide area, there is materia! for some excellent racing. The following is the programme:— 12.30 p.m. TRIAL. PLATE, of 100 sovs: six furlongs. Special weights.—Dttkla, Tea -Jrn, Flaxbird, Positive, Golden Note, Royal Amphora, Rose Dart, King Musket, Night Recital. Miss Tembrony, Prlncews Argosy, Songbird—Miss Garance mare. There are several in the field who have demonstrated that they can gallop fast, Tea Urn. Positive, Night Recital and Miss Tembroney being in this category. Flaxbird has speed, but he is not read}' to show his best. Night Recital has been working well at Ric- \ clarton. and he may do best, as some of 1 his spring form was very good. 1.10 p.m. STUDHOLME HIGH-WEIGHT HANDI- j CAP, of 100 sovs. Seven furlongs. | Rameses 10 0 Pangolin 9 0 j Quinopai .30 0 Oriflarcb 9 0 Thorndale 10 1 Owlsflight 9 0 | Giggleswick 9 6 Otaura Lass 9 0 j Corn Queen 9 0 Diamond Jack 9 0 After Ten 9 0 Rameses failed at Riccarton and he appears to be uncertain. Quinopaiafter winning at Riccarton ran a poor race at Motukarara. On his best form he must be given a great chance, especially over the shorter journey. Tborndale is nearly back to his liest form. Giggles wick ran well in his last two starts, and will be hard to beat. Pangolin has been working freely of late, but of those on the minifum. Owlsflight makes the strongest appeal. He has plenty of speed, and with more racing experience he looks like developing into a useful performer, i Giggleswick and Quinopai are a J likely pair. I 1.50 p.m. WAIMATE JUBILEE CUP, of 250 sovs. One mile and a quarter. Black Duke 8 3 0 StraightMoney Mine . 8 0 course 7 9 Topere 7 11 Shortly 7 0 (41enrowan 7 9 Minerva! 7 0 Admiral High Gear 7 0 Drake 7 7 Xight Effort 7 0 Red Racer 7 5 High Speed 7 0 Miss Mercia 7 0 Black Duke may not be at his best, as he was racing at Trentham on Tuesday. Money Mine is coming on. and he is nearly at his best again. Topere lias run two moderate races since he won at Wingatui last month, but a soft track will help him. Glenrowan, on the other hand, requires firm ground, and his recent form has not been good. Admiral Drake is another who has failed consistently of late. Red Racer is a useful customer from the south. He was fourth in the Dunedin Cup. and'on that form he must be given a chance. Straightcourse ran a solid race when he won the Peninsula Cup, after leading all the way, and he should go well again, in spite of a 91b penalty. Shortly has done nothing of note since he won the Wyndham Cup on New Year’s Day, though he was responsible for setting the pace a long way in the Dunedin Cup. A repetition of that showing would help to give the race some interest. Minerval was always in the picture when he ran second to Straightcourse in the Peninsula Cup. and a pull of 91b in the weights will ! assist him to reverse the placings. Miss j

Mercia will find the journey too long. High Gear and High Speed have no recent form, but Night Effort may run on a long way. Motukarara form points to Straightcourse and Minerval as a i pair to keep in mind. 2.30 p.m. MORVEX TROT HANDICAP (in harness). of 110 sovs; class 3.45; one mile and a half. Onoto scr Prince "Wrack scr Lady Emmett scr Free Logan scr Evening Sun scr Patsy Xelson scr Locanda Moth scr Lord Antrim scr Jacob scr Scotty Bingen 12 Ellen Terry scr Black Watch 4S In a field of twelve, all but two are on the limit, most of them being novices, of whom little is known. Lord Antrim is a useful sort, and Black Watch is a very smart young pacer. 3.10 p.m. PRESIDEXT-S HANDICAP, of 125 sovs. Six furlongs. Waving Corn 8 5 Francolin 7 12 Caterpillar 8 5 Impertinence 7 0 Charmeuse 7 13 Valuator 7 0 Waving Corn is very well at present, j while Caterpillar is also in good order. Charmeuse has recent winning form, and is. likely to do still better. Fran- ! colin is a promising recruit from the hack ranks. Charmeuse and Waving Corn are a likely pair. 3.50 p.m. WAITANGI HACK HANDICAP, of 110 . . sovs. O.n.e mile.. . . Fair Money 8 3 Good Gift 7 10 Pharaoh 8 3 Felony 7 10 Some Acre 8 2 King Musket 7 7 Giggleswick 7 13 High Speed 7 7 Royal Limond 7 11 Gay Xita 7 7 Fair Money is a useful hack, endowed tvith a good deal of speed. Pharaoh, a three-year-old formerly trained at Riccarton, ran disappointingly at the Dunedin Qup meeting, but the heavy course may have hampered him. Some Acre can go fast, and showed useful form when second to Tray Bond, over six furlongs, at Motukarara. He may find a mile a trifle too far for his best form, but it looks a weak' field. Giggleswick has an earlier engagement but will be very hard to beat here. Royal Limond has no recent form, but showed great promise early in his career. Giggleswick reads best, and Some Acre may be dangerous. 4.30 p.m. HOOK TROT HANDICAP (in harness), of 100 sovs; class 3.6; one mile and a quarter. Locanda Moth scr Onoto scr Alpha Wrack scr Free Logan sor Jacob scr Locanda Ellen Terry scr Pointer scr Evening Sun scr Tat Wrack scr Eetermoa scr Lord Antrim scr Xelson Guy scr Black Watch 24 As in the earlier event, the field is largely made up of beginners, and possibly there are some smart maidens among them. Nelson Guy may be a useful sort, while Black Watch and Lord Antrim also appeal if they are not penalised. 5.10 p.m. STEWARDS’ HANDICAP, of 100 sovs. Seven furlongs. Waving Corn 8 9 Miss Mercia 710 First Raid 8 8 Impertinence 7 7 Charmeuse 8 7 Xight Effort 7 7 Francolin 8 4 Out of seven acceptors, First Raid is the only, one who does not claim an earlier engagement. He has been racing well lately, and he should be hard to Lent Waving Corn or Charmeuse, if 1 reserved for this event, would pro- : viue hot opposition.
