BAKERS WILLING TO REDUCE BREAD.

WHEAT PRICES MUST BE LOWERED FIRST. (Special to the “Star.”) GREYMOUTH, February 20. The president, Mr IT. P. Burton, said the public were expecting some pronouncement on the question of the price of bread. He stated that the Bakers’ Association would be only too pleased to meet farmers and millers in conference with a view to reducing the price of bread. Farmers must first reduce the price of wheat, and then millers must lower the price of flour. He considered that lesser prices would stimulate sales, and in some measure this would mean more employment. The whole of the bakers desired to see a reduction in price were it at all possible.
