RAILWAYMEN PROTEST AGAINST WAGES CUT.

Per Press Association. PALMERSTON N., February 19. The Palmerston North branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants passed a resolution protesting against the 10 per cent cut on the grounds that railwaymen. particularly those lower paid, already had been penalised by the loss of night rates and other conditions, which brought them to the minimum earning capacity; further, from February 1, many /workers had their house rents increased as high as 150 per cent, thus further penalising members.
