LAMBS BRING RECORD PRICE AT HOKITIKA. (Special to the “Star.”) HOKITIKA, February 19. About 500 head of cattle, 225 sheep and four horses were offered at a sale at Kokatahi yesterday. The sale attracted a large attendance. The yardings consisted of prime stock and some attractive lines of stores. Competition was good throughout. In only a few instances were the offerings passed, vendors in most cases being ready to meet the market. A feature of the sale was the abnormal yarding of young cattle, principally calves. These showed a distinct advance in prices. Fat cattle realised prices equal to those ruling at Arahura. In the sheep section an excellent finished pen of nine lambs made 21s. These were from Mr P. S. Heslan’s fapn. The price, it is safe to say, is the highest this season for the Dominion. Horses were unsaleable.
