SATURDAY’S FIELDS. (Special to the “Star.”) WANGANUI, February 20. The autumn meeting of the Wanga- ( nui Jockey Club will be concluded tomorrow. Fair fields are engaged and there is sufficient material to provide some good racing. The following is the programme:— Noon. FORDELL HURDLE HANDICAP, of 140 sovs. One mile and a half and 55 yards. Royal Acre 11 9 Goblin A vro 11 S Market 9 0 Elicit 3 0 12 Moerangi 9 O Atareria 9 9 Hatteras 0 Royal Acre, after his success yesterday, is now top weight, giving Avro a pound. The latter should be much harder to beat to-morrow. Elicit, who was having his first race for some time, made a creditable showing in the Westmere Hurdles, while Atareria and Goblin Market are likely improvers. Most money may go on Avro, Elicit and Royal Acre. 12.40 p.m. HARRISON HANDICAP, of 175 sovs. One mile and 110 yards. Melissa S 1 Paiko 7 4 Arisus 8 0 Statuary 7 4 Chopin 7 12 Monsogne 7 0 Green Linnet 7 8 Melissa, if started in this event, should go well, but she also has an engagement in the Farewell Handicap. Arisus won the Petre Hack Handicap so well that he will have to be seriously considered. Chopin is a useful sort and Green Linnet showed promise over a middle distance yesterdav. The public may go for Arisus, Melissa and Chopin. 1.20 p.m. JACKSON STAKES, of 500 sovs. Six furlongs. Hunting Cry 9 0 Karapoti 8 7 Ceremony 9 0 Sporting Lady Quex 8 11 Chance 8 7 Arisus S 7 Nea Lap 8 4 Hunting Cry and Ceremony are at the head of those engaged, and the former should prove the better of this pair. Arisus has a prior engagement, while Karapoti would only have to reproduce his best form to be very hard to beat. Lady Quex, on her recent running, will be well supported. The favourites may be Karapoti, Hunting Cry and Lady Quex. 2 p.m. AUTUMN HANDICAP, of 120 sovs. Five furlongs. Movie Star 9 8 Knollmere 8 3 Isa 9 5 Teller 7 8 Impetuous 8 7 Sight Draft 7 8 Korokio 8 5 View Halloa 7 0 This event is for two and three-year-olds. Movie Star showed that he was returning to form when he ran second yesterday. Isa has a win and two seconds to - her credit in three starts, while Impetuous has won in her last two starts and is sure to be one of the favourites. Korokio and Knollmere look the best of the others. The placings may be Impetuous, Movie Star and Isa. 2.45 p.m. OKOIA HACK HANDICAP, of 140 sovs. One mile and a distance. Joyspear 8 10 Kilorell 7 4 Monaloff 8 10' Little Doubt 7 2 Auctioneer 8 8 Gueress 7 0 Gasnapper 7 10 Takahue 7 0 Banbridge 7 8 Spearopa 7 0 Joyspear was second yesterday to who is also engaged, and this pair should again go well. Monalof has recent form to commend him, while Banbridge, Little Doubt and Auctioneer may appeal among the others. Otairi 9 0 Moutoa Royal Parade 8 6 Treasury 7 2 First Acre 8 4 Shrewd 7 0 White Fang 711 Grand Jury 7 0 Paitonu 7 9 Otairi has a solid impost, but he has good recent form. Royal Parade won the Earle Stakes yesterday and will have plenty of friends, as will First Acre, who ran second tQ him. White Fang was runner-up to Laughing Prince yesterday and he is very well. Grand Jury appears to be the best of those lower down. The best backed may be Royal Parade, First Acre and White Fang. 4.15 p.m. MATARAWA HACK HANDICAP, of 110 sovs. Six furlongs. Royal Finance was second in that event and Leisure third. Navaho won the Maiden Race all the way and should again go well. Those most sought after may be Royal Finance, Navaho and Paratoo. 5 p.m. FAREWELL HANDICAP, of 175 sovs. Six furlongs.
