CIVIL CASES BEFORE JUDGE AT TIMARU.
Per Press Association. TIMARU, February 3. There was no criminal list at the quarterly session of the Supreme Court which opened to-day, Mr Justice Adams presiding. The case of Rex y. C. E. Meredith, Ltd., of Waimate (Mr Emslie), a claim for possession of premises, was stood over to the next session as it was in the course of settlement. The claim of Clara Stewart, a widow (Mr Emslie) against John M’Knight, carrier, for £750 damages, plaintiff’s husband having been killed by a motorlorry driven by a servant of defendant, was struck out as it had been settled out of Court. The application of Janet Wellman (Mr Charles) for a summons for accounts to be taken against Charles Quartley, of Ashburton, was granted, no defence being filed. Counsel said that other things were asked, but in the meantime plaintiff would be content with reference to the accounts, none of which was complex. The question of costs was reserved. The claim of James J. Niven and Co., Ltd. (Mr Sim) against the Tongariro Park Tourist Co., Ltd., for £I2SI 5s lid and interest, for certain work done and goods supplied, was held over until Thursday for hearing.
