Pensioners And Levy.

To the Edltoi. Dear Sir,—May I know if it is true that a retired minister in Auckland has decided to go to prison before he will pay this levy out of his meagre salary? May I know if anything is being done in cases such as mine? I am an elderly man, with a pension of £2 5s a week. Can anything be done to stop such injustice in a young land such as ours? No man with a wage under £5 per week should be compelled to pay this tax. May I know if anything is being done towards such a necessary measure?—l am. etc., WORKING MAN. Regulations are to be issued, it is understood, exempting certain pensioners^—Ed., “ Star.”
