MILE-LONG QUEUE WAITS TO FILE BY.
JOFFRE LIES IN STATE AT MILITARY SCHOOL. (United Press Assn. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received January 6, 12.30 p.m.) PARIS, January 5. A mile-long queue is waiting to file past Marshal Joffre’s body, which is lying in a soldier’s camp bed, draped in flags, at the chapel of the Ecole Militaire. The body is dressed in a 1914 field uniform, and wears the Medaille Militaire and the insignia of the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour. The long blue cloak covers the lower part of the body. The hands rest on the gold hilt of a sword. Four generals, with drawn swords, are standing one at each corner of the catafalque, with the Marshal’s standard bearer behind it.
