SAVINGS BANK AGENCY IN LONDON MAY CLOSE.

A London cable states that the agency there of the Victorian State Savings Bank has been instructed to refuse deposits, and this is believed to be a preliminary to its closing. The general manager, Mr Cooch, said that it was not intended to close the London agency, but further deposits were not wanted as the present rate of exchange rendered the transfer of money unprofitable.
