BRITAIN, ITALY AND FRANCE ENTER RACE.
THREE NATIONS TO FLY FOR SCHNEIDER TROPHY. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) RUGBY, January 1. Entries for the Schneider Trophy race, which is to be flown over the Solent in September*., closed at midnight last night. The competitors will be Great Britain, Italy and France. Britain will rely mainly on the seaplanes which took part in the 1929 race. Two each of the Supermarine S 6 and the Gloucester-Napier V.-l seaplanes are now at Felixstowe, where they have been used in the past year to check the data obtained with models in wind tunnel tests. The Air Ministry is prepared to lend hese on certain conditions, but the Gov. ernment has announced that it will not again take charge of the British entry in the Schneider Trophy race. The question of raising a team of pilots for the British machines is still under consideration.
