WEDDING.

Clark-M’Lean. A pretty wedding was celebrated at the Clarence Street Methodist Church, Riccarton, on Monday evening, when Irene Mavis, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs M’Lean, Picton Avenue, Riccarton, was married to Alfred William, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Clark, Wyndham Street, Papanui. Rev J. F. Jack was the officiating minister, and Mrs Dunn was at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a pretty frock of ivory georgette over satin, made on straight lines. The skirt fell to the ankles in a flare, and was finished with a scalloped edge delicately appliqued with pale pink roses. Her veil of white tulle was arranged closely to her head with a spray of orange blossoms across the back and clusters of orange blossoms over the ears. It fell to form a long train. She carried a sheaf of white carnations and Christmas lilies. The bridesmaids were Misses Jessie M’Lean, sister of the bride, and Enid Clark, sister of the bridegroom. They were dressed in floral georgette patterned in pink and lemon, and large black crinoline hats with posies to tone on the brim. Their bouquets were of pink and lemon flowers. Mr Stanley Clark attended his brother as best man, and Mr Claude Gutry, of Auckland, was groomsman. After the ceremony about seventy guests were entertained at a reception in the church hall.

Mrs M’Lean, the bride’s mother, wore a navy crepe de chine frock trimmed with grey and a navy pandan hat with touches of grey, and she carried a bouquet of apricot-coloured carnations.

Mr Clark, the bridegroom’s mother, wore a navy floral crepe de chine frock and a smart black hat, and her bouquet was of red roses. ~ The bride’s travelling dress was a Naples b,lue celanese frock. With this was worn a navy blue faced cloth coat with musquash collar and cuffs, and a pandan hat to match.
