Old Buildings In Square.
To the Editor. Dear Sir, —The footnotes to the old buildings to the east of Cathedral Square which you dixplayed in the “Star” on December 13, an somewhat misleading. The old buildings re ferred to were not on any part of “ Warner’s back premises,” though one of them was used at one time as a laundry for Warner’s Hotel. The Gaiety Theatre’s back premises were east of Warner’s and again east of the theatre was a space Which is now a public right-of-way, and the old buildings were a few yards further east and a little to the south, with a western frontage to the Square, just a little north of the main entrance to the “ Press ” office: in other words, the “ Press ” buildings stand over the site where the old building stood. I make this correction because I feel sure the footnotes do not represent the position that the writer of the article intended to convey. I have been on the site and in the old cottages many times.—l am, etc., R. E. GREEN.
