MINISTER TO LOOK INTO WORKSHOPS DISMISSALS.
Mr 11. T. Armstrong. M.P., interviewed the Minister of Railways (the Han W. A. Veitch) yesterday afternoon with reference to dismissals of men from the Addington Workshops. Mr Armstrong pointed out to the Minister that the men who were going had been employed for a number of years. There was, he said, plenty of work to do, and because of their dismissal maintenance w’ork was falling behind. The Minister took particulars of cases mentioned by Mr Armstrong and prom- fLj ised to give the matter eveay considera- ri tion. Cabinet, he said, had set up a M committee to go into the question of retrenchments, and he would see that dismissals would not in future b# indiscriminate.
