New police regulations in Los Angeles ordain that uniformed officers must keep their hair trimmed, shave [one* a day, clean and press uniforms once a fortnight, wear black shoes and keep them polished. Socks must be black, and all buttons, badges and cappieces must be gold-plated. HINT TO HOUSEWIVES.
