CLEANING WITH HYDROCHLORIC ACID.
There are a variety of uses to which spirits of salt can be put, but care should always be taken to prevent it coming into contact with metal. Spirits of salt, or hydrochloric acid, to give it its proper name, will remove dried chalk marks caused by hard watei on vases, bottles, glasses, etc. Simply run a little over the chalky marks or deposits and they will instantly dissolve. Pour the spirits back into the bottle, and rinse the cleaned article with cold water. Pour a little hydrochloric acid into the lavatory pan and leave overnight. In the morning, flush, and the porcelain will be spotless. Tike acid will not damage the glaze in any way. Fust marks on porcelain disappear at once when moistened with hydrochloric acid. Stains on* marble will also vanish if treated with hydrochloric acid diluted iu live times its volume of water.
