“Merry and Bright,” published by Whitcombe and Tombs, Ltd. This splendid annual will appeal to the majority of school girls and boys. It is comprised mainly of school stories which are popular because they are about school adventures. There is also a really excellent story entitled “Black Fox Clan,” which will capture many imaginations. Who does not like Red Indian stories? This one is a series of breath-taking adventures which will make you tremble with excitement. Another specially good story is called “The Steeple.” Throughout this book are many coloured plates and black and white illustrations which go to make up a really tip-top gift annual. “Pip and Squeak Annual, 1931.” This annual is for the many children whose heroes are cowboys. Besides many fascinating puzzles, there are poems, and for the girls, fairy stories concerning kings and treasures. Best of all, throughout the pages of this annual there are the most amusing antics of those quaint little creatures, Pip, Squeak, and Wilfred.
