Sydney Town Hall Has Fine Organ.
We do not hear so much as once vre heard of this great instrument. Other giant organs have been built, and the Sydney organ is no longer, as once it was, “the largest organ in the world’’. Nevertheless, it remains one of the finest instruments in existence, and organists may like to be reminded tiiat its draw-stops number 140, of which 20 are on the great organ, 24 on the swell, 2U on the choir, 20 on the solo, 8 on the echo, and 20 on the pedal organ—and there are 14 couplers. Alterations made since the original building of the orgaW have added to it louvred shutters t• the swell box, new swell boxes for th® choir and solo organs, and electro pneumatic swell-pedals to swell, choir and echo organs. The size of the Sydney instrument is its least claim to the esteem of organists, for it is famous for the beauty of its tone and especially, that of the quieter stops.
