Tragic Love Story Of 1677 Recalled By Swedish Burial.

(United Press Association.—By Electric' Telegrapn.—Copyright.) (Received December 20, 12 noon.) LONDON, December 19. A tragic love story of 1677 is recalled, by the burial in Falun churchyard, Sweden, to-day of a miner named Metts. In 1677 Metts, despite the entreaties of his sweetheart, descended a deep shaft of Falun copper mine. He never returned. Half a century later his body, which had been preserved in its youthful appearance by vitriolic waters, was recovered. His fiancee, true to his memory, had not married and recognised the corpse immediately. The petrified body has since been kept in a glass-covered coffin in the Mining Museum. Metts was the subject of scores of Swedish poems and stories.
